GENERAL

HOUSE KEEPING

  • Are walking/working surfaces and storage areas free of potential slip/trip/fall hazards (Look for unnecessary debris, trip hazards, excessive accumulations of dust, standing water, other spilled liquids, etc.)?

  • Are trash containers provided and emptied on a regular basis?

  • Are there any general repairs/upkeep to be made? (ex: light bulbs)

  • There is no flammable material or liquids near or resting on potentially hazardous items?

OUTSIDE HOUSE KEEPING

  • Are walkways leading to and from the facility adequately maintained to minimize slips and falls from standing water, ice and snow?

  • Are parking lots, stairs, sidewalks or other exterior walking surfaces free from defects that could cause a slip and fall?

  • Is ice melt or sand readily available near exits that are likely to accumulate ice?

MANUFACTURING

  • Are all machines or operations that expose operators or other employees to rotating parts, pinch points or particles, or sparks adequately guarded?

  • Are all PPE, Processes, Procedures being used in appropriate areas?

WAREHOUSE

  • Material/product is stored in a safe manner (ie. Nothing falling over or looks unsafe)?

  • Racking is in good condition, no damaged uprights or beams?

  • Is Customer Product stored without threat of damage (water, fire and dirt)?

FORKLIFT / HI-LO

  • Are Hi-Lo drivers wearing their eye protection, seatbelts and have their licenses on them and are they current (Check a couple)?

  • Are Hi-Lo drivers using their horns at intersections and when coming out of trailers?

  • Do you see any evidence of bulldozing/pushing multiple pallets, doing unsafe acts?

  • Are Hi-Lo's being used that are needing maintenance/repair

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS / FIRE EXTINGUISHERS

  • Is each extinguisher in its designated place, clearly visible, and not blocked by equipment, coats or other objects that could interfere with access during an emergency?

  • Is the pressure gauge showing that the extinguisher is fully charged (the needle should be in the green zone)?

  • Is the extinguisher in good condition and showing no signs of physical damage, corrosion, expiration, or leakage?

  • Are fire extinguishers installed in appropriate location (Extinguishers should be distributed to limit employee travel distance to 75 feet or less)?

  • Are building evacuation drawings/maps that indicate exit routes up to date and posted?

  • Are corridors and exits free and clear of all obstructions to provide easy access to the exit? (min. 36 inches)

  • Are exits properly marked and illuminated?

ELECTRICAL

  • Are there broken/banged up electrical boxes or electrical conduit?

  • Are all electrcial conduit securely attached to a secure surface?

  • All electrical cords are free from damage and not frayed or having exposed wires showing (including no electrical tape)

  • Are there no electrical cords daisy chained together?

  • Is Lockout/Tagout being followed?

  • Are all Electical Panels easily accessable? (36 inch Clearance)

  • Are all electrical panels closed and locks working?

OTHER

  • Are all eye wash stations clean, full and working properly?

  • Have the emergency bullhorn batteries been tested?

  • Disaster first aid kits have been checked and are full of medical supplies?

  • Check both Lockout/Tagout boxs for supplies.
