On arrival, you must sign in at the Marketing Suite or Maintenance Shed

Please ensure you read the notice board in the corridor of the marketing suite and maintenance shed. Here you will find: HSE law poster, Company policies, Emergency evacuation procedures including first aiders and fire marshals. contract information and actions to take on discovering a fire.

All employees working at Ironbridge will be given induction training detailing responsibilities of the job this will be done prior to commencing work. This applies to sub contractors and agency workers as well as company employees

Electronic documents supporting your induction will be kept on file

All staff, contractors and visitors must adhere to the safety rules set out and explained during induction

When you are on site, you are responsible for your safety and safety of others affected by their acts or omissions (Health & Safety at Work Act etc 1974)

If any of the activities mentioned are taking place a permit to work is required from the Health and Safety Advisor before work can commence
Working on or near the tracks
-
Is the contractor/ employee working on or near the tracks?
-
You should wear the full Rail PPE when on or near the tracks. This includes safety footwear, high visibility clothing, helmet / bump cap
-
You must take special precautions when crossing the track. Wear the correct PPE, find a safe crossing point, look and listen while crossing
-
When in the maintenance shed or on or near the track, if a driver blows his horn, move to a safe position and raise one arm above your head to indicate you have seen the driver / train and watch the train go past. Do not leave the position of safety unless you are sure it is safe to do so

If you see a safety hazard, this should be reported immediately to your Line Manager or host
-
If you have an accident, STOP work immediately and report it to your Line Manager or host and fill out the accident book giving as much detail as possible. Employees can report any incident through Employment Hero

Working in the Maintenance Shed

Is the contractor/ employee working in the maintenance shed?

Read and sign the relevant Toolbox Talks. These are available through Employment Hero

Before using any equipment or starting any activity, you must read and sign the appropriate Standard Operating Procedure and Risk Assessment

PPE must be worn as advised in the SOP
-
If you see a safety hazard, this should be reported immediately to your Line Manager
Fire Precautions
-
Actions to be taken on discovering a fire: <br>1. Sound the nearest fire alarm by breaking a “break glass” call point<br>2. Tackle the fire with the nearest fire extinguisher if it can be done safely<br>3. Leave the building by the nearest exit. Do not stop to collect personal items<br>4. Assemble at your designated Fire Assembly Point<br>5. Your Fire Assembly Point is in the car park for the maintenance suite and to the rear of the maintenance shed.<br>6. Do not re-enter the building until instructed to do so by the Fire marshal<br>

Actions to be taken on hearing the fire alarm:<br>1. On hearing the alarm, leave the building by the nearest exit. Never assume it is a test<br>2. Do not stop to collect personal belongings<br>3. Proceed directly to your designated Fire Assembly Point<br>4. Do not re-enter the building until instructed to do so by the Fire Marshall <br> <br>
