VI. HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • d. Heat lamps are secured to ceilings to prevent falling to floor while still plugged in.

  • f. All overhead utility lines are a minimum of 50 feet from the feed bins.

  • g. All pets are contained during feed delivery or livestock movements.

  • h. Fans have proper guards installed to prevent contact with spinning blades.

  • i. Electrical fixtures, outlets, and switches are in waterproof boxes or replaced, converted to waterproof boxes. Outlets are closed when not in use.

  • j. Pressure regulator for any un-vented heaters outside or plumbed to the outside.

  • k. Feed bins are capable of being opened and closed from the ground and feed bin ladders are safely secured to the feed bin.

VII. HEALTH AND SAFETY SUPPLEMENTAL INFO * OPTIONAL, not required to pass audit, but strongly recommended.

  • a. Lug nuts to main service wires are tight.

  • b. All hazardous materials are stored properly in labeled containers and away from at-risk personnel. All employees are properly trained on the use of hazardous materials.

  • c. Flammable materials are stored in approved storage units.

  • d. Heaters are inspected by LP company annually in the fall.

  • e. All safety guards are in place (i.e. belts, PTO, Augers, etc.).

  • f. Lock out procedures are used while working on electrical equipment.

  • g. All adults have been trained in First Aid and CPR.

  • h. Safety glasses or goggles are worn when spraying disinfectant or pressure washing.

  • i. Fire extinguishers are placed every 75 feet and are checked periodically to ensure that they are functioning correctly and employees are trained to properly use fire extinguishers.
