JETTER HOSE PROTECTION

  • Is a leader hose being used on this Jetter?

  • Is a top roller or tiger tail in use to protect from cutting/skinning the hose on the manhole ring?

  • Is a tiger tail in use at the crown of the sewer pipe?

  • Is the truck’s/unit’s pressure gauge working correctly?

  • Does the operator know the correct rated working pressure for the hose?

  • Does the operator know the correct method of marking the hose working distance with duct tape; lapping the last ½ inch of the tape over itself so it can be removed by hand versus cutting the tape off and damaging the orange hose cover?

JETTER HOSE REPAIR

  • Does the truck/unit have a swaging tool?

  • Does the swaging tool have the correct dies; color-coded for the hose being repaired?

  • Are the dies stored so their condition will not be downgraded?

  • Are the hose repair fittings/menders properly color-coded for the hose being repaired?

  • Are the hose repair fittings/menders stored so their condition will not be downgraded?

JETTER HOSE INSPECTION - please inspec hose as the reel runs out and rewinds

  • Does the orange, abrasion resistant outer coating look to be in good condition and free from cracks, holes, cuts, slices, rips, bubbles and there is no white braided inter fiber showing? IF ANSWER NO – REPAIR HOSE NOW

  • Do all the hose fittings/menders appear to be properly swaged?

  • Inspect the male fitting. Are the threads in good condition securing the nozzle properly?

  • Are the female fittings in good condition, tight and joining hose sections properly?
