LADDER CARRY:

- Arms do not pass through the rungs
- Keep balance and control from truck to worksite

SETTING LADDER:

Observation:
- Set the strand hooks to working position
- Stand ladder upright at a 10:1 ratio
- Position ladder so wide side is toward support surface
- Ensure ladder feet are stable -
EXTENDING LADDER:
-
Observation:
- Extend the ladder using lanyard and free hand
- Do not wrap lanyard around hand or allow it to slip thru the hand
- Do not place hands or feet on any rungs
- If pole is support surface, V-Rung rests against pole
- Keep balance and control of ladder
- Lift ladder and pull base out to 4:1 ratio
- Strand hooks are on the strand for final working position
- Take up slack in lanyard and tie off to ladder -
CLIMBING THE LADDER:

Observation:
- Properly adjust safety strap length before climbing
- Shoulder safety strap or tuck slack into D-Ring
- Use 3-Point of contact to ascend to working height -
BELT-IN PROCEDURES:

Observation:
- Maintain 3-Points of contact
- Unclip and pass single end of safety strap over the strand
- At mid-span use (1-1-1) or (1-2-1) tie off with safety strap
- If pole is support surface, use proper tie off method (1-1-1)
- Watch snap hook clip engage D-Ring
- Snap hook opening face outwards

WORKING ALOFT:

Observation:
- Strand should be at chest height
- Both feet remain on same rung
- Demonstrate belt buckle rule left & right -
DESCENDING THE LADDER:

Observation:
- Release safety strap while maintaining 3-Points of contact
- Shoulder safety strap or tuck strap into D-Ring -
LOWERING THE LADDER:
-
Observation:
- Untie lanyard slack from rung
- Lift ladder and push base to 10:1 ratio
- Use lanyard and free hand to retract ladder
- Lower ladder a few rungs at a time
- Do not wrap lanyard around hand or allow it to slip thru the hand
- Do not place hands or feet on any rungs while lowering
- Keep balance and control of ladder
- Ensure that lanyard is secured to rung
- Use approved method to carry ladder back to vehicle -
STOW THE LADDER:
