Visual Inspection

    • Check for signs of overloading, eg distortion of hooks
    • Examine entire surface of each link for any twisting, stretching or cracks
    • Measure any worn components to determine amount of wear

    of any worn section has been reduced by 10% (in any plane)
    • Check operation of safety catches and hook latches
    • Evaluate the load bearing points on the end fittings for any sign of wear
    • Check load pin(s) for excessive play within the body halves of the connecting links &
    • Check for impaired rotation of the body halves of the connecting links around the pin
