Lifting Equipment Register

  • Are all items on site listed in the register including cranes, forklift jibs, fork lit slippers and slings Ect.

  • Has the register been updated with all new equipment bought on site since last reporting period

  • Does the lifting equipment register contain the quarantined and destroyed equipment from last audit period.

  • Is the updated register available at lifting equipment storage area

Lifting equipment storage

  • Is storage area clearly denoted and tidy and equipment stowed in an orderly manner

  • Are large items stored out of the environment

  • Is there an area marked for out of service and quarantined equipment.

Certification of all lifting equipment

  • Does the equipment listed in the register have either a scanned or hard copy of certification available

  • Is there a testing regime for getting lifting equipment crane's forklift Jibs Ect re-certified by 3rd party providers.

  • What procedure is used for out of date or damaged equipment

Soft Sling Inspections

  • Is the sling affected by Acid or caustic burns

  • Is the sling affected by Melting or charring

  • Is the sling affected by Tears or Cuts<br>

  • Is the sling affected by Broken or worn stitches<br>

  • Have all non-certifiable slings been removed from service.

Fittings\Shackles\End fittings\ Hard eye's\ Thimbels

  • Cracked\Deformed

  • Worn\Corrosion

  • Electrical burns\gouging

  • Are hard eye thimbles tight in place and not deformed

Hooks

  • Is the hook showing Defects or cracks

  • Is the hook showing throat openings deformation - 15% \ Twisted grater than - 10%

Wire rope slings

  • Is the sling showing reduction in diameter\squashed

  • Is the sling showing lack of flexibility

  • Is the sling showing abnormal wear

  • Is the sling showing broken or cut fibers more than 5%

  • Is the sling showing heat damage\corrosion

Lifting\Hoisting Attachments (Forklift Jibs\Man riding Basket\Forklift slippers) Ect.

  • Safety sign indicating reduce capacity of the forklift by 20% in accordance with ASZN 2359.1 in place and legible .

  • Securing pin and chain are in place and in good working order

  • Check for damage to welds

  • Check SWL is marked on equipment and is clearly visable

  • Check manriding cage gate openness inwards and hinges are free moving

  • Check spring latch on gate works effectively when closed
