{1} Chemical Storage/Safety

  • {1.1} Shelving is equipped with restraints to prevent items from falling off. Racks/shelves are secured. (IFC 5404.3.3.5.2)

{4} Elevator Machine Room

  • {4.1} Machine room is free of storage. (ASME A17.1)

  • {4.2} Machine room has a fire extinguisher with a minimum rating of 2A:10B:C (ASME A17.1)

{5} Fire Alarms/Detectors (ITM)

  • {5.1} Fire alarm test shall be conducted semi-annually (NFPA 72.14.3)

  • {5.2} Smoke detectors shall be installed in each sleeping room and interconnected in R-2 Occupancies. (IFC 907.2.11.2 & 907.2.11.3)

{6} Fire Sprinklers (ITM)

  • {6.1} Automatic Fire Sprinkler Systems shall be inspected and tested semi-annually. (NFPA 25.5)

  • {6.2} Automatic Fire Sprinklers shall be installed in all R-2 Occupancies. (IFC 903.2.8)

{7} Fire Resistance Rated Construction

{8} Housekeeping

  • {8.1} Storage shall be maintained 2' or more below the ceiling in non-sprinklered areas of buildings. (IFC 315.3.1)

  • {8.2} Storage shall be maintained a minimum of 18" below fire sprinkler head deflectors. (IFC 315.3.1)

  • {8.3} Combustible material creating a fire hazard shall not be allowed to accumulate in buildings. (IFC 304.1)

  • {8.4} Storage shall be orderly and not subjected to heating appliances. (IFC 315.3)

{9} Kitchens

  • {9.1} Class K portable fire extinguisher shall be provided for commercial cooking equipment involving vegetable or animal oils and fats. (IFC 904.11.5)

  • {9.2} Fire extinguishing systems in commercial kitchen hoods shall be serviced at least semi-annually. (IFC 904.11.6.2)

  • {9.3} Inspections of hoods, fans, ducts and devices shall be conducted at intervals not to exceed 6 months and cleaned if necessary. (IFC 609.3.3.1)
