Muster/Drill Audit

What procedure is the drill/muster based on. Does it follow statutory and CPP requirements?

Has a risk assessment been undertaken in relation to the activities being carried out during this excercise

Does the Risk Assessment cover all emergency scenarios, eg: man over board, abandon ship and the severity based on activities being undertaken and are these covered in the vessel safety management plan.

Are the Emergency Procedures covered in the Site Induction, eg: muster points, where the LSA equipment is located.

Are the correct number of crew available to manage the muster/drill

Are PAX directed to assist during the drill, eg: man over board spotting, searching for missing persons

Are all parties involved in the muster/drill notified of the event

Is there evidence of competency of the team members who have responsibilities within the muster/drill

Was LSA was distributed during the muster/drill

Was suitable instruction given in the use of the LSA provided, was the fitment checked by a competent person

Evidence the Rescue Equipment certified and in date. Evidenced by inspection record/certificates

Sufficient communication systems in place i.e radios etc.

Did the crew communicate effectively during the muster/drill

Is the muster point suitable, is there any background noise affecting clear communication.

Request a copy of their drill plan and the status of completed drills i.e Are they meeting their own internal KPI's
