  • Summary of the Evaluation

  • Site Address
  • Evaluation procedures: Evaluations begin inside the location to determine if any interior fuel distribution lines exist or any other evidence of an underground storage unit exists.  Once an interior evaluation is complete, the technician visually checks the grounds for vent and/or fill plumbing d any signs on the land for an underground storage unit. Next, the technician sweeps the perimeter of the home utilizing an electronic metal detection system and determines if any buried metallic objects exist.  The sweep consists of a 30 foot radius around the home up to 4 feet in depth.

  • No object was located at the above address. Even though no object was found, it is still recommend to contact the town for an OPRA (Open Permits and Records Act) to determine if a tank or object is in the property that was unable to be detected.

  • An object was detected on the property. Cornerstone Home Inspections recommends the responsible parties have the suspicious areas investigated further to determine if a tank exists. Investigation starts with easement, town, and documentation evaluation and can go to the extent of excavation if no conclusion is reached. If a tank or parts of a tank are located, it is recommended the surrounding soil be evaluated to determine if contamination exists.

  • No signs of removal can indicate a tank is below the scanning depth of current technology, or a tank was removed by someone other then a dep contractor. It is recommended to investigate with the town to determine if a removal was performed properly. If no documentation is found on a removal, soil samples are recommended in this area to ensure no contamination exists.
