Attaching The Load

  • Operator has done proper rigging and hoisting techniques

  • Hoist chain or hoist rope is free of kinks or twists and not wrapped around the load

  • Load is attached to the load block hook by means of slings or other approved devices

  • The sling cleared all obstacles

Moving The Load

  • Load is well secured and properly balanced in the sling or lifting device before it is lifted more than a few inches

  • Before starting the hoist, the hoist rope is not kinked and the multiple part lines should not be twisted around each other

  • The hook is brought over the load in such a manner as to prevent swinging.

  • No sudden acceleration or deceleration of the moving load was observed

  • Load is not in contact to any obstructions.

  • Hoisting, lowering and traveling is not being done when employees are on the load or hook

  • The operator tested the brakes each time a load approaching the rated load is handled. The brakes are tested by raising the load a few inches and applying the brakes.<br>
