Attaching The Load
-
Operator has done proper rigging and hoisting techniques
-
Hoist chain or hoist rope is free of kinks or twists and not wrapped around the load
-
Load is attached to the load block hook by means of slings or other approved devices
-
The sling cleared all obstacles
Moving The Load
-
Load is well secured and properly balanced in the sling or lifting device before it is lifted more than a few inches
-
Before starting the hoist, the hoist rope is not kinked and the multiple part lines should not be twisted around each other
-
The hook is brought over the load in such a manner as to prevent swinging.
-
No sudden acceleration or deceleration of the moving load was observed
-
Load is not in contact to any obstructions.
-
Hoisting, lowering and traveling is not being done when employees are on the load or hook
-
The operator tested the brakes each time a load approaching the rated load is handled. The brakes are tested by raising the load a few inches and applying the brakes.<br>
