Retrofit Designer Qualifications

Kevin Schouten has the Level 5 Qualification in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management along with the Level 3 Award in Energy Efficiency in Older and Traditional Buildings

Review Guidance

The Retrofit Design has considered the guidance in Sections 4 and 5 of PAS2035 and will ensure a fabric first approach to retrofit as much as possible.

Review Assessment Details

The information that has been captured by the PAS Assessment and the Technical Assessment is sufficient to prepare the design.

Retrofit Coordinator Activities

Both the Improvement Option Evaluation and the Medium Term Plan for this project will be provided by the Retrofit Coordinator.

Scope of the Design

The scope of the Design has been agreed with the Retrofit Coordinator. The intended outcomes are in compliance with the Energy Companies Obligation requirements and are intended to assist in reducing carbon emissions, reducing fuel poverty and and ensuring the security of energy supply.

Condition of the Existing Building

A condition Survey has been completed and this suggests that the property is in a good state of repair and that no remedial work is required prior to the installation of the agreed measures.

Products and Materials Spec

The materials and products that have been specified in the design are compatible with the building and each other. The manufacturers instructions for all products and materials to be used during the installation are referred to in this Design document.

Physical Interactions Between Measures

Design details for measures that physically interact will be shown in the Design details. Reference to BR262 Thermal Insulation: Avoiding Risks and must be followed to minimise thermal bridging and maintain airtightedness.

REsilience to Rain water ingress or Flood

The property is in a good state of repair, is in a high exposure area but with low flood risk.

Fire Safety

The proposed measures will not compromise the fire safety of the building.

Maintenance Requirements

Refer to the Manufacturers technical specification for guidance on maintenance requirements.

Technical Standards

The Installer must install the measure/s in line with the general guidance outlined in PAS2035:2019 Sections 1 to 10 and the measure specific guidance in Annex B.

The Heaters that are being Installed

Heaters

The installer must also ensure that the installation follows the guidance in the Dimplex Quantum Installation Specification Documents.

Installation Sequence

Any insulation measures and any required ventilation will be installed in the first phase.. Other measures recommended in the Improvement Option Evaluation or Medium Term Improvement Plan should be installed in the following order: fabric, airtightness, building services, renewables.

Operative Competency

All installed measures will be installed by operatives with the relevant qualifications as detailed in Annex B of PAS 2030;19. Evidence of all Operatives' qualifications will be provided post install.

Testing and Commissioning

All measures, once installed, will be fully tested and Certified in line with the requirements set out in Section 11 of PAS2030:2019. Results of the testing and commissioning will be made available post install.

Handover

All installed measures must be physically inspected and their functions, controls explained to the occupants.

Handover (Ventilation)

Information is to be provided with regards to the safe operation of any ventilation systems including the cleaning and replacement of any air filters. The consequences of switching off any mechanical ventilation systems should be made clear.
