Pre-License Education

Step 1: It is required in most states, including North Carolina, to have a minimum of 20 hours of pre-license education. You have two options to complete this training.

Go to xcelsolutions.com to enroll for the online course. Note: If enrolling from a phone, you may not be able to view the entire course titles. Ensure the filter is set to Alphabetical, and it will be the second option from the top.

In the drop down, select English or Spanish "Insurance Pre-Licensing

Select your state and hit "Continue"

Select your course by clicking on the price icon "Life Insurance Only"

View the schedule and decide when and which location is best for you and enter it here before moving on.

Complete the Enrollment Application

Pay the tuition (the Life Only course is $125)

Attend the 3-day class
Step 2: Complete the license application online

Go to www.nipr.com
-
Click on Apply for License
-
Choose New License, select your state from the dropdown and select Resident Licensing.

Fill out the application for an Individual (you only receive your NPN number once you pass the state exam).

Click on Producer
-
Click Life (each state has a different application fee - North Carolina's fee is $137)
Step 3: Fingerprint submission is required with the license application packet

Go to http://www.ncdoi.com/ASD/ASD_InsuranceProducers

Click on the link for Insurance Producer Fingerprint/Criminal Background<br>Packet.

Print the forms and fill them out to take with you to your local Sherriff's<br>Department for Electronic Fingerprint Submission.

Be sure to take at least $15 cash for the fingerprinting fee (TIP: GO EARLY - office closes at 3:00pm).

Submit the forms to Pearson Vue by email or fax per instructions in packet.
Step 4: Your Exam

Upon completing the FINAL pre-licensing exam (70% or better), you will receive your Certificate of Completion and Examination Admission Ticket

Go to www.pearsonvue.com

Click on Schedule or Re-schedule an Exam.

Select your program (North Carolina Insurance).

Select your Location, Date and Time

Take the exam and obtain a score of at least 70%
