2.0 - “Pre-start checks” (Primary visual inspection)

  • Pre-start checks completed?

  • Is the operator wearing the correct PPE?

  • Did the operator check the drums for any damage and/or bulges etc?

  • Did the operator check the engine bay for fluid levels, deadman, etc?

  • Did the operator check all instrumentation is working as it should? Lights, indicators, horn, beacons, etc?

  • Before starting the ride on roller did the operator put a seatbelt on?

3.0 - Main Practical assessment

  • The operator has been instructed to travel to an area set by the assessor, did the operator travel to the location at the correct speed maintaining good all round observation?

  • The operator is then asked to consolidate a stoned up area with the ride on roller, the assessor acts as the banksman.<br>Did the operator consolidate the ground correctly?

  • The assessor signals the operator to stop and hold position, did the delegate stop and hold position until told to continue with the exercise ?

  • Did the operator shutdown the ride on roller correctly maintaining three points of contact and disembark correctly ?

  • Has the operator showed they are capable of operating the ride on roller in a safe controlled manner?

4.0 - Maintenance

  • Operator showing knowledge of maintenance process

  • Has the operator shown the checked all fluid levels correctly?

  • Has the operator shown all greasing points along with knowledge of how to maintain these points?

  • The assessor has asked the operator “when should the roller be topped up with fuel?” Did the operator have the correct answer and did they know why it should be done at the end of every shift?

6.0 - Operator compertant

  • Is the operator competent to operate the equipment to the best of your knowledge?

  • Does the operator require any additional training or mentoring?
