Pre-operation checklist

  • Visually Check condition of power supply plug

  • Visually check hydraulic oil level as above minimum level on tank gauge

  • Visually check hydraulic oil leaks around hoses, cylinders and power pack area

  • Visually check pull down gate mesh is undamaged and still intact

  • Visually check pull down gate handle is intact and door in good order

  • Check operation of pull down gate - ensure gate runs smooth and straight

  • Visually check all guards and covers are undamaged and secure - no missing fasteners

  • Check all safety interlock switches are operational and undamaged

  • Check all emergency stops buttons are operational and undamaged

  • Check all safety switches and push buttons are operational and undamaged

  • Check power supply isolation lock off switch is operational and undamaged

After start-up

  • Check all the safety sensors / interlocks are working as they should

  • Run the baler to ensure the ram moves freely within the machine

Cleaning

  • Between bales - check operation of turnbuckle and thread condition / securing points

  • Between bales - sweep of any waste debris from inside the chamber / behind eject door

  • With power supply padlock isolated, remove waste build up from inside the chamber / behind eject door

  • With power supply padlock isolated, remove large debris from above the compaction blade

  • Remove debris from around the baler:

  • Open panels at back and clean out card debris behind the ram if applicable:

  • Jet wash the baler and around it. (as per site schedule)

At end of shift

  • Do Not attempt any repairs yourself - report to your supervisor / manager

  • Do not attempt to alter any baler settings e.g. pressure switches, limit switches

  • Do Not attempt to override any safety interlock switches or safety guards / covers

  • Do not attempt any cleaning with power supply on - padlock lock off at panel isolator

  • Isolate baler and padlock in place

  • If any faults are found report to helpdesk and put machine out of order

  • I can confirm all checks have been completed

  • List any issues identified during the operation and action taken

  • Operator Name and Signature
