1. Equipment

  • Is equipment stored in designated areas?

  • Once the tasks have been completed, has the aircraft been put back into its usual condition IAW the relevant AMM and necessary notes been made in the Tech Log?

  • Is the aircraft appropriately chocked on the stand for the work being conducted IAW the relevant AMM?

  • Have any systems being worked on been isolated and a note been made in the Tech Log?

  • Once the tasks have been completed, has the aircraft been put back into its usual condition IAW the relevant AMM and necessary notes been made in the Tech Log?

  • If so, is the aircraft chocked correctly IAW the relevant AMM for being parked?

3. Powered System Function Checks

  • Are Powered System Function Checks being performed?

  • Is there an Engineer in overall control?

  • Engineer Name

  • Have all staff involved been briefed of the operational sequence of the maintenance activities likely to bring them into proximity of the controls and powered systems being operated?

  • Have lookouts been nominated who have overall responsibility for confirming danger areas are clear and are kept clear of personnel and equipment?

  • Have clear lines of communication been established between the person(s) operating the controls and the lookouts?

4. Engine Runs

  • Are engine ground runs being carried out on the aircraft?

  • Is the aircraft chocked appropriately for engine ground runs IAW the relevant AMM?

  • Is there an Engineer in overall control of the engine run?

  • Engineer Name

  • Is the engineer in overall control positioned on the flight deck during the ground runs?

  • Has the engineer in overall control nominated the minimum of a second competent person on the flight deck?

  • Has the engineer in overall control nominated a minimum of one competent person with communication links on the outside of the aircraft during the run?

  • Have the relevant Airport Authorities been made aware of the ground run and permission to proceed been received?

  • Has the engineer in overall control held a briefing with all involved parties?

  • Did the briefing contain the following:

  • All parties involved were made aware of their role and the roles of their colleagues?

  • All parties involved were made aware of the energency evacuation procedures, which exits are to be used in the event of an emergency, whether these exits will require the use of slides or steps, the sound of the evacuation alarm and the assembly point?

  • Engineers outside the aircraft were made aware of the hazards of wearing hats, spectacles, loose clothing, unsecured headsets and ear protectors?

  • Staff who have not previously been involved in an aircraft ground run are aware of the noise levels and vibration to expect and have been informed that once onboard they will not be able to leave till the run is finished?

  • Are there passengers on board the aircraft?

  • Is a member of the flight crew present on the flight deck at all times?

  • Have the Cabin crew have been briefed?

  • Have the passengers been informed of what is to take place and been told to release their seatbelts?

  • Are their Cabin crew manning all the exits?
