Walkways

  • Check all internal and external walkways, routes and general floor areas within the club premises are free from damage or defect and any slip, trip or fall hazards have been highlighted, actioned and reported.

Environment

  • Check the lighting, heating and ventilation is functioning and adequate.

Exits

  • Check all exit routes and means of escape are free from combustible materials. Fire exit doors should be checked for correct operation.

Fire Safety

  • Check fire extinguishers are in their allocated places (not freestanding on floor) and are ready for use. Internal fire doors are closed.

Safety Signage

  • Check all safety signage is in place, in good condition and is legible. Check safety signage above fire exits, break glass call points, emergency directional and signage above fire extinguishers.

Communication

  • Check any club radios and emergency phones within your area are fully functional.

Plugs and Sockets

  • Check plug sockets and extension leads are in good repair and not overloaded. Check for signs of burning on sockets, cracked socket housing, exposed wiring or damaged equipment.

First Aid

  • Check the first aid box/es in general areas has all the required items as per standard guidelines and replenish as necessary, including suitable PPE ensuring items are in date or the tag seal is in place.

Biohazard

  • Check biohazard box is available and has all the required items as per standard guidelines. Ensure any items have not gone beyond their expiry date.

Control of Contractors

  • Check that the contractor’s signing in register and permit to work documents are available and ready to use. Check that the previous day’s documents have been completed correctly. Feed these back to the Duty Manager where there are any issues.

Gate Security

  • Check the reception turnstile is working correctly and the access gate is closed.

CCTV

  • Check that CCTV on reception is working to allow pool monitoring to be performed. The whole of the indoor pool and outdoor pool (where present) must be visible, with no blind spots. Check the HS14 from the previous day has been completed correctly. Feed these back to the Duty Manager where there are any issues.
