JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Erection of scaffold

Take an Image of the area being assessed.

SITE ASSESSMENT - IDENTIFY HAZARDS

  • Is the work site safe from natural hazards, eg; terrain, climate, wind that presents a risk?

  • If no, refer to SWMS 002-9 preparing to build scaffold

  • Is the worksite free from moving plant/machinery or high levels of human traffic?

  • If no, refer to SWMS 002-6 Secure work area

  • Is the floor of the work surface safe? Eg. Clear from a slippery surface loose debris?

  • If no, refer to SWMS 002-9 Preparing to build scaffold

  • Are workers safe from any potential energy sources that could cause harm. Eg electrocution?

  • If no, refer to SWMS 002-10 Building scaffold

INDIVIDUALS

  • Are all employees free fro the effects of drugs and alcohol?

  • If no, remove from site immediately.

  • Have the employees received the necessary training to complete the task?

  • If no, move individual to a task they are competent in. Eg spotting or site clean up

  • Have you eliminated the risk of injury to others?

  • If no, refer to SWMS 002-6 Secure work area

  • Have workers been trained in correct manual handling techniques?

  • If no, supervisor is to demonstrate/train in correct lifting techniques relevant to the task at hand. Workers are provided with mechanical aids where possible.

  • Do workers have the correct PPE for the task at hand?

  • If no, stop until correct PPE is provided.
