What if I identify a defect?

  • Where a defect is identified that has the potential to result in damage or harm the equipment must not be used. You must notify a manager immediately who shall further instruct.

Documentation

  • Is there a current LOLER certificate in place for both the mobile plant itself and lifting attachments?

Exterior - Please indicate the condition

  • Lamps / Indicators / Stop lamps

  • Registration Plate / Bumpers / Reflectors & Beacons

  • Mirrors / Windows / Windscreen / Wipers / Washers

  • Condition of tyres / tracks & are they secure?

  • Exhaust (emissions / leaks)

  • Doors (Inc. side & rear)

  • Machine guards / Handrails / Steps

Under the Bonnet

  • Is there sufficient fluid (e.g. oils, coolants, brake fluid etc.)

  • Prior to using this plant please ensure that all fluids have been filled up appropraite to prevent the risk of damage.

  • Is the battery in good condition & the bonnet fully functioning?

  • Is the equipment free of leaks?

Cab - Please indicate the condition

  • Seat & seatbelt

  • Operation of brake pedal / handbrake

  • Instruments (function / lighting)

  • Reverse warnings / Horn / Body Up Indicator

Design Specific

  • Are all lifting attachments (e.g. bucket / chains) in good condition with no apparent defects and suitable for the works being undertaken?

  • Is the plant without any hydraulic leaks?

  • Is the security mechanism for the attachment secure & fully functioning?
