Equipment

  • Is plant and equipment in good condition and guards provided as required?

  • Is all electrical equipment battery/low voltage, or with protection (RCD) incorporated into system?

  • Is access equipment being used?

  • Is access equipment in good condition and suitable for operations being carried out?

  • Has access equipment (i.e. scaffold) been erected by a competent person and is regularly checked?

  • Are contractors operating powered equipment (fork lifts, MEWPs etc) trained and competent in their use?

Site Operations

  • Is interface with staff and students managed well e.g. signage,barriers etc?

  • Are operations that create dust, noise, fumes etc controlled to minimise exposures?

  • Is housekeeping good, e.g. sound surfaces, tidy to minimise slips/trips, spill management and cleaning?

  • Are welfare facilities kept clean and stocked with relevant supplies?

  • Is first aider on site?

  • Is first aid box onsite and well stocked?

  • Is movement of vehicles controlled e.g. banks person?

  • Are the site boundaries, work-spaces, compound, skips and parking in accordance with those agreed?
