Foundation Checklist

Grading and Erosion Control

  • Post lot sign and permit board. Paint property lines on curb

  • Is the building pad level?

  • Are the swales cut in and is the drainage in compliance with the HLP?

  • Is the C.O. Pad and garage on the high side of the lot?

  • Is the silt fence and C.O. Installed per the county and EPD requirements?

  • Is a compaction letter required? If the lot elevation has been changed in excess of 2' a new compaction letter is required.

  • Are there any obstructions with regard to driveway?

Foundation Box

  • Check the box dimensions and square

  • Confirm the garage side

  • Mark the form boards for any brick ledge

  • Confirm the patio locations and size. The front patio needs to be offset 4" to accommodate the columns

  • Have the forms checked by the surveying company to ensure the location of the home is in accordance with the HLP

  • Is the box within the setback and or property lines

Slab Plumbing

  • Check for 1/8" per foot fall on all drain lines. Make sure drain lines are bedded in ground and partial covered with dirt.

  • Check for leaks-look for wet dirt

  • Ensure PVC sleeve is installed at main drain as it exits slab

  • Check that pipes are secured to metal stakes and are located in the proper locations

  • Make sure there are no splices in the supply lines

  • Make sure the island conduit is installed in the correct location if it is required

  • Confirm the locations of all pipes, i.e. kitchen, bath, and water heater

Slab Prep

  • Footing dug square and free of debris and loose dirt. Rebar must be centered in footing and placed on chairs

  • Grade beams in rebar installed per plan/details

  • Turn up rebar ground in outside garage wall near electrical meter base location

  • Vapor barrier installed and wall straps/bolts on-site for insulation during concrete pour

  • Ensure form boards are straight and properly braced

  • Double check slab dimensions, square, and patio dimensions and locations

  • Ensure slab is minimum 4" thick at all points

  • Check for positive slope 3" in 20' on garage
