Hand, Power and Powder-Actuated Tools

  • When powder actuated equipments is being used, is personnel wearing proper PPE (Eye, face, ear, foot, etc.) signs posted warning other of the equipment use and operators certified? Section 1685(a-1)

  • Hand tools in good working condition?

  • If laser equipment is being used, are laser warning signs posted?

  • Tool cords and plugs in good condition (strain relief)?

  • Are employees using power tools properly?

Electrical

  • Are electrical cords being used safe?

  • Extension cords with missing ground prongs taken out of service?

  • Electrical cords being used are proper size of wire for equipment being powered.

  • Circuit breakers / disconnects are properly identified (labeled) and accessible?

Housekeeping: Slips, Trips and Falls

  • Are working surfaces safe? Free of debris and clear?

  • Are all spilled materials or liquids cleaned immediately?

  • Are waste and trash containers or bins provided and emptied regularly?

  • Is temporary material storage areas clean and organized?

  • Is adequate lighting provided?

  • Are spill kits provided by each sub?

Fall Protection (Article 24-1670)

  • Has a site specific fall protection plan been developed and in job trailer? (Section 1671.1(1).

  • Fall protection equipment is appropriate for working height above 6 feet (federal OSHA 1926.502.21)

  • Has personal fall arrest systems been inspected prior to use? (Section 1670.15)
