8. Fire

  • Conditions on site, combustibles stored correctly, not allowed to build up. Fire Points, numbers of, location of, means raising alarm. Extinguishers suitable to task. Storage of Flammable materials, gases, liquids. Fire Plan, displayed in a prominent location. Fire Risk Assessment. Lighting & emergency lighting, Means of Escape, clear of obstruction, consider third parties. Hot Works Permits

9. Electrics

  • Test & inspection regime in place for portable appliances. Temporary electrical certification available on site (this includes any site cabins). Overhead cables clearly identified & highlighted. 110v to be used where possible, cable management is being controlled. Isolation procedure established & recorded, live working avoided where possible & any live cables/connections clearly marked + protected.

10. Plant and Equipment

  • Plant & equipment in good working order & fit for purpose. Inspection regime, proof of operator training as required. Test & inspection certs required including lifting equipment. Only trained competent operators to use MEWPS/Plant on site. Access equipment in sound working order & fit for purpose (Ladders etc). Power & hand tools fit for purpose, guards fitted correct use of leads etc.

11. Scaffolds (Inc towers and trestles)

  • Fit for purpose, adequately tied/secured, inspection regime. All relevant parts fitted (Handrails, toe boards etc). All ladders used as access/egress secured. Working platforms free from obstruction & tidy, tubing level & plumb, base plates fitted & supported. Towers not moved whilst persons on board. Scaffolds & Tower Scaffolds erected/altered/dismantled by competent persons (Proof of training required). Brakes applied to tower when in use, not overloaded, max height not exceeded.

    Are contractors and sub-contractors trained and aware of their responsibilities?
    Have these contractors and sub-contractors understood and agreed the Site Waste Management Plan?
    Are selected waste materials segregated to allow you to get best value from good waste management practices?
    Are containers/skips clearly labelled to avoid confusion?
    Are you complying with Duty of Care procedures, including providing transfer notes and checking the authorisation of registered carriers, registered exempt sites and licensed waste management facilities?
