1. DOCUMENTATION

  • 1.1 Is the Construction Phase Plan (HS154) available?

  • 1.2.A Is there evidence this has been approved by the CDM-A?

  • 1.2 Is the Pre-Construction pack filed on site?

  • This should include appointment letters, TWR, templates pack & any available design information. Standard information for heras, hoarding etc is available electronically on link & does not need printing out for every project.

  • 1.8 Is the site set up drawing available including the fire plan?

  • 1.8A Have there been any changes to the site set up plan since works commenced on site? If so, please explain.

  • 1.9 Has a suitable Traffic Management Plan been developed and displayed?

  • 1.10 If there is a skip on site, is the Waste Compliance Pack available?

  • Compliance pack should contain the waste carriers license certificate, the details (name and address) of the waste transfer station and the insurance certificate for the skip provider. This is provided electronically and should be saved in LINK under 05.08 Environment

2. SITE COMPOUND AND WELFARE AREAS

  • 2.1 Is the welfare area suitable and sufficient for the number of operatives predicted on site at one time?

  • 2.2 Are there adequate toilet facilities provided?

  • 1-5 persons = 1 toilet, 6-25 persons = 2 toilets, 26-50 persons = 3 toilets

  • 2.3 Are food storage and preparation appliances available?

  • 2.4 Is there hot and cold water available?

  • 2.5 Is there a designated smoking area?

  • 2.6 Is there a designated area allocated for material storage?

  • This should be marked up on the site set up plan with a segregated area in place for materials/waste.

  • 2.7 Is there a first aid kit available?

  • Check that the first aid supplies are suitable and sufficient for the works being carried out and that supplies are in date. As a minimum 1x20 person kit including eye wash.

  • 2.8 Are we preventing unauthorised access to site?

  • Where fencing or hoarding is in place, a secure digi lock pedestrian gate should be in place, kept closed at all times. Where any existing welfare facilities are used and not contained within hoarding/heras, means of access should still be secure and safe.

  • 2.9 Are suitable emergency exits available and appropriate directional signage in place?

  • 2.10 Is the temporary electrical certificate available for cabins?

  • 2.11 Is suitable segregation in place within the CDM area

3. HEALTH & SAFETY DISPLAY

  • 3.1 Is the project Notifiable?

  • 3.2 Are the Smart Start signage boards displayed within the welfare areas? Are these in good condition with the correct logo?
