Safety and Security

  • No employees may stay on site over shutdown period without permission from the Client. <br>Permission obtained?

  • Standby persons nominated by General Contractor and Sub-Contractors to respond to emergency situations?

  • Arrangements made for after hours security?

  • Security lighting / Alarms in place, checked and working?

  • Emergency numbers clearly displayed on site information boards and at security hut?

  • All perimeter fences, gates and barricades secured and in good condition to prevent unauthorised access?

  • Unauthorised access to tower crane prevented? (Board up access ladder)

  • All plant and equipment made safe? Keys removed, doors locked etc.

  • Site containers securely locked?

  • "No Unauthorised" access signage posted at entrance gates and perimeter fence?

  • Scaffolding made safe by removing access ladders and "No Unauthorised" access sign posted

  • Material hoist at ground level and isolated to prevent any unauthorised usage?

  • All exposed electrical cables tagged and made safe?

  • Ensure aviation lights on tower crane operational. (SA-CAR 139.01.33)

  • Tower crane hook free from chains and slings?

  • Ensure tower crane is in free slew mode.

Stacking and Storage

  • Decking boards / sheeting securely fixed and stored to prevent movement during high winds?

  • Brick stacks properly bonded to prevent accidental collapse?

  • Pipes chocked or wedged to prevent rolling?

  • All material stacked / stored away from site perimeter fence?

  • Ladders removed and stored away to prevent unauthorised usage?

  • All material / tools safely stored away in containers / secure lock-ups?

  • Hazardous chemicals / flammable material securely locked away in well ventilated bunded COSHH locker?

  • Housekeeping on site in good order? (All trip hazards removed, combustable material removed from site)

  • All excessive builders sand enclosed under plastic sheeting to prevent blowing into surrounding areas?

Administrative

  • All computers, copiers, scanners etc. removed from site or securely locked away?

  • All taps securely closed and electrical outlets isolated / disconnected?

  • All offices securely locked and checked?

  • Emergency standby list confirmed and distributed to relevant persons and CCPOA?

Excavations / Penetrations and Barricading

  • All excavations / penetrations adequately secured, covered or barricaded?

  • All covered penetrations / excavations labeled and warning signs posted?

  • Edge protection in place on leading edges and drop-off points, otherwise areas securely barricaded and sign posted?

  • No exposed reinforcing steel permitted in excavations - to be "Red-Capped" or otherwise protected

Powered Industrial Vehicles / Plant

  • All vehicles parked in safe designated areas with drip trays under engine and wheels chocked?

  • All vehicles securely locked and keys kept in a lockable safe or secure place?

  • All batteries to vehicles kept on site disconnected?

  • Diesel / Fuel tank discharge point locked or otherwise secured to prevent discharge or unauthorised usage?
