  • Is the CPHSP / Small works plan available on site and being developed as required. (i.e. Are site documents being completed correctly

  • CPHSP / Small works plan must be available on site, reviewed and signed off accordingly by the CM and be suitable for the works being undertaken. This includes all site documentation, the live section of the CPHSP.

  • Is Asbestos information adequate and in line with our scope of works

  • An asbestos R&D survey must be available when required and inline with the scope of works. This information must be made available to all operatives, contractors & suppliers prior to commenacing works.

  • Is Client specific documentation contained within the site managers file and adhered to.

  • For example Tesco working in a live store policy & procedures

  • Are inductions being completed and recorded on site correctly

  • All inductions must be site specific and contain all relevant information including asbestos information, emergency arrangements, security requirements and HSF / Client rules.

  • Are sub contractors safe systems of work suitable and sufficient for the works to be carried out. Are they being reviewed, approved and communicated to operatives.

  • All sub contractors risk assessments & method statements must be suitable for the works to be carried out. all risk assessments and method statements must be reviewed and approved by HSF.
    All operatives must read and understand there safe system of works and the supervisor must retain a signed copy on site.

  • Is there a waste removal process being managed on site and all documentation contained within the site managers file

  • A method of removing waste must be implemented and where applicable a SWMP is to be developed. A copy of the waste carriers licence must be kept in the site managers folder along with all consignment notes.

  • Is the site secure from unauthorised access

  • The site should be secure from unauthorised entry at all times, this includes all fencing, hoardings, barriers and the site compound.

  • Is site welfare in line with current legislative requirements (CDM 2015)<br>

  • Adequate facilities must be available to the work force including the right facilities for the number of workers working on site. For example the number of toilets and hand basins and the size of first aid kit needs to be appropriate for the number of workers; 1-5 workers should have 1 toilet & 1 hand basin 6-25 workers 2 of each 26-50 should have 3 of each. Guidance of first aid kit sizes should be available within the first aid kit itself.

  • Is the fire / emergency strategy established and reflective of the working environment

  • A developed fire plan & arrangements must be in place & reflective of the works and environment that the site is established within.

  • Is general housekeeping at an acceptable standard and is there sufficient pedestrian / traffic segregation on site

  • Site housekeeping must be maintained at a suitable level on site at all times, Materials should be adequately stored and as required. Vehicle and pedestrian segregation must be sufficient on site.

  • Is working at height operations being managed correctly on site.

  • Consider the following, stepladders, Mobile towers, MEWP's, fixed scaffold and fall protection.

  • Are the correct permits to work / registers in use and correctly signed.

  • Consider the following, Generic, Hot works, Roof access, Electrical, Stepladder / Ladder, Confined space & Excavation.

  • Are site PPE requirements complied with

  • HSF PPE requirements must be met along with any client requirements and any task specific PPE items.
    Consider face fit certificates & training when using masks.

  • Have tool box talks been carried out in line with the company policy ( min 1 per week)
