  • Does the tanker comply with Stability Angle requirements? (Rigid < 64 degrees, all other vehicles < 62 degrees)

  • Does the tanker comply with road clearance requirements?

  • Clearance > 250mm within 1m of any axle?

  • Clearance > 350mm for any other location?

  • Are the filling and discharge connection points that are rigidly attached to the tank > 40mm below the plane through the centreline of the axles?

  • Is rear of cabin to tank clearance > 75mm?

  • Does the tanker comply with rear impact requirements?

  • Is the inner face of the bumper at least 150mm from the tank or any component or fitting?

  • Is the width of the impact surface at least the width of the vehicle? (Generally 2480-2500mm)

  • Is a tail shaft loop fitted?

  • Is the battery isolated? (Isolator should be located on the drivers side directly behind the cabin of the truck)

  • Is drive away protection fitted?<br><br>- A means shall be provided such that the road tank vehicle is immobilised whenever any transfer to or from the tanker is being undertaken

  • Is at least one 1A 10B(E) fire extinguisher fitted to the vehicle?

  • Is EIP (Emergency Information Placard) present? (One visible from each side and one from the rear of the vehicle)

  • Is direction and type of movement to shut any valve clearly labelled?

  • Do primary valves (shut-off valves) comply with the requirements?

  • Is the valve connected directly to the flange or the vessel opening?

  • Are fail safe provisions in place?<br><br>- Where an internal valve is omitted, the design of the piping system shall be such that some element of the piping will fail on impact before damage can be transferred to a valve sufficient to render it inoperable

  • Does the tanker comply with rollover clearance requirements?<br><br>- Any guard, dome or coaming, shall project at least 25mm above the top of the fitting it protects.

  • Does the tanker comply with venting requirements?

  • Does the clear area through the most restricted portion of the vent not exceed 15mm^2?

  • Is the vent constructed to prevent the free discharge of liquid due to surge or rollover?

  • Is tank testing up to date?<br><br>- Hydrostatic test within the last 5 years<br>- Hatch and Vent within the last 2-1/2 years<br><br>- 30kPa for small compartments (<8,600l)<br>- 45kPa for large compartments (>8,600l)

  • Is certification plate present and compliant?<br><br>The certification plate must show the following information:

  • The tank manufacturer's name

  • The tank design approval number as issued by, or on behalf of, the Statutory Authority

  • The number of the Australian Standard -ie- AS 2809.4

  • The serial number of the tank(s)

  • Date of manufacture

  • Date of test

  • Design pressure in kPa

  • Head material (grade, and thickness in mm)

  • Shell material (grade, and thickness in mm)

  • Tank capacity (litres) by compartments (front to rear)

  • Maximum liquid load in kg

  • Maximum unloading rate in l/min

  • Maximum loading rate in l/min

  • Is the tank serial number also stamped on a substantial part of the tank structure?
