  • Vehicle is equipped with appropriate safety equipment (first aid equipment, roadside triangles, beacons and fire extinguisher)?

Mobile and Heavy Equipment

  • Only qualified personnel or those in training (under direct supervision) are permitted to operate heavy and mobile equipment?

  • Wheel chocks are used for rubber tired mobile equipment?

  • Horns and audible back-up alarms are operational?

  • A portable fire extinguisher is available and suitably mounted?

  • Operator cage protection in place? (unless the risk of falling objects is low)

  • Roll over protection is available where there is a risk of roll over?

  • Whip flag and strobe lights are used where required or when on client or operating sites?

Inspection and Maintenance

  • Heavy equipment is subject to a comprehensive inspection prior to acceptance and use on site with documentation on file?

Traffic Management

  • Site has a documented traffic control plan?

  • Traffic control plan is followed by all personnel?

  • Clear and safe paths of travel for equipment are provided for vehicles and pedestrians?

  • A competent traffic control person is available to control movement on/off site?

  • Traffic control persons are positioned in a safe location?
