Tires and Rims

  • Visual inspection of tires, tires correct for the season and spare tire present. Tires are round and appear to be at appropriate level. Rims are not cracked, no missing lug nuts.

Documentation

  • Current registration, insurance and license plate sticker.

Lights

  • Head lights, signal lights four way flashers, brake lights and reverse lights

Fluid Leaks

  • With vehicle running, inspect under vehicle for evidence of fluid leaks

Exhaust

  • Visual inspection of muffler and exhaust pipe; listen for abnormal sounds

Safety Equipment

  • First aid kit, wheel chocks, emergency road-side kit and fire extinguisher preset and secure

Mine-Site Ready

  • Whip (buggy flag), beacon, reflective striping

Horn/Backup Alarm

  • Test and listen for sound of horn/backup alarm

Brakes and Parking/Emergency Brake

  • Depress brake pedal to ensure adequate back pressure. Test parking brake (activate and deactivate)

Ventilation

  • Ensure Ventilation/defroster is operational

Windows and Mirrors:

  • Inspect windshield, windows and mirrors for damage. Ensure wipers are operational/good working order and washer pump has fluid. Ensure backup camera lens is clean if applicable.

Steering Functions Properly

  • No excess play or noise

Secured Load

  • Ensure items (tools, wheel chalks, equipment, etc) in the bed or can of the truck are secure.

Warning Lights on Dashboard:

  • Fluids, tire pressure, fuel

  • Engine and battery lights

Comments

  • Note any issues identified during inspection, while driving or damage sustained during operation
