  • Can the equipment users operate the equipment safely?

Emergency arrangements

  • Factors to consider: Fire exits, extinguishers, emergency lighting, call points etc

  • Are all required emergency evacuation arrangements in place?

  • Are all fire arrangements in place?

  • Have all first aid kits been checked and all contents correct and present?

  • Are all incident response kits in place and content the correct equipment?

Slips, trips and falls

  • Factors to consider: Floors clean, cable runs, loose pallet wrap etc

  • Are controls in place to reduce the potential for slips, trips and falls?

Signage

  • Are all restricted areas clearly marked?

  • Are all demarcated areas, such as smoking areas, clearly marked?

  • Are all evacuation routes clearly marked?

Hazardous substances

  • Factors to consider: Safe storage, PPE, spillage controls

  • Area all appropriate controls in place for the use of chemicals?

  • Have any new chemicals had an assessment done on them and been added to the hazardous chemical register?

Manual handling

  • Factors to consider: Suitable mechanical handling equipment, job rotation, manual handling

  • Have all precautions been taken to minimise manual handling?

  • Have correct manual handling techniques been followed?

Housekeeping

  • Are all areas clean and tidy?

  • Have all bins and waste containers been emptied?

  • Has waste been sorted into the relevant categories, and are all recyclable materials separated?
