General lighting

Plant Room and Electrical

  • All leads tagged with correct tag? (Annual inspection correct)

  • All switchboards closed and boards not obstructed?

  • All walkways clear around switchboards?

  • Emergency contact numbers displayed?

  • Generator checked, storage of fuel appropriate policy or JSWA

  • No signs of overloading, such as powerboards, adaptors, etc?

  • Any signs of temporary leads being used?

  • Correct extinguisher for plant and electrical?

  • Critical infrastructure plan available?

  • Emergency shutdown instructions displayed?

  • List of signage, MSDS, OHS or licenses that required to be displayed?

Checkout/Register Area

  • Are all electrical leads/switches tagged and visually free of damage?

  • Are the floors clean and tidy?

  • Are staff aware of the clean floor policy, also where the wet floor signs are, mop and buckets etc?

  • Are trolleys in good repair and nesting properly?

  • Are entrance mats in place? If so ensure they are flat and do not create a trip hazard?

  • Are trolleys collected as per JSWP, vest worn, ocky straps not used etc?

  • Is PPE available in this department? Even suitable footwear?

  • List of signage, MSDS, OHS, or licenses that are required to be displayed?

  • Visitors register used with a safety plan?

Supermarket Selling Area

  • Are the floors free of spillages and slip/trip hazards?

  • Are all staff aware of the clean floor policy? Also where wet floor signs are, mop and buckets etc?

  • Is all stock on overheads stored safely?

  • Are all displays stacked safely?

  • Are only approved ladders and safety steps available and used correctly?

  • Spot check ladders for rungs, spreaders etc are free of defects?

  • Is PPE available in this department? Even suitable footwear being worn by staff?
