  • Are stair and risers kept clear?

  • Are all liquid spills removed quickly?

  • Are over head mezzanine mark for weight ratings? Are the railing in place with kick boards.

Parts storage

  • Are parts shelves and bin in good shape ? Is parts storage designed to minimize manual lifting.

  • Are materials stored in racks and bins wherever possible?

  • Are floors around storage clear of tripping hazards?

  • Are shipping and receiving areas cleared of freight and boxes in a timely matter?

  • Are all cord and hoses pick up and stored when not in use?

Forklifts, pallet jacks, and Man lifts

  • Are forklift daily inspections current for the month?

  • Are seat belts In place and used at all times while operating ? Are back up alarms working?

  • Are man lifts safety rails and fall protection in place?

  • Are pallet jacks in good operating condition?

Hand and Power tools

  • Are all striking tool dressed with no mushroomed heads?

  • Is there a procedure for broken or damaged power tools?

Shop work area and benches, and tools

  • Are all tools put away in the proper place when not in use?

  • Are all air hoses and electrical cord picked up and stored when not in use?

  • Are work benches clean and orderly?

  • Are noise levels at adequate levels? ( if you have to raise your voice to communicate it is too loud.)

  • Are lifting straps in good shape, clean with no bad cuts or abrasions? ( check to see if the danger stripe is exposed.)

Machines, Cranes, splitting stands and jack/jack stands

  • Are machines kept clean? Are floors around machines kept Clean.

  • Is all machine guarding in place? ( includes drill press chuck guards.)

  • Are bench grinder rest and tongue adjusted?

  • Do cranes have annual inspections?

  • Are jacks inspected monthly?

  • Do jack stands have weight rating marked on them?

  • Are splitting stands in good repair and stored neatly ?

Garbage bins/cans

  • Are there enough garbage bins and are they in suitable locations?

  • Are bins emptied regularly?

  • Are oily rag and combustible refuse in a self closing bin?

Lock out Tag out

  • Is lock out tag out equipment available ?

  • Are lockout procedures implemented and followed?

Liquified gases

  • Are all Gas/liquified gas bottles secured and stored correctly? (Includes propane and acetylene as well as oxygen and inert gas.)

Electrical safety

  • Are electrical panels marked with their highest voltage?

  • Are all junction box and breaker box knock outs in place? (no openings)

  • Are all breakers in place and blanks installed where breakers are missing?

  • Are all breakers marked for their use?

  • Are receptacle outlet in good condition free of cracks and broken parts?

  • Are GFCI outlets used around water sources?h

  • Is all conduit free from stuff hanging on it?

  • Are extension cord in good shape free from cracks and bare spots?

  • Are power strips used correctly? (Not used for permanent wiring and no daisy chaining.)

Chemical safety

  • Are Safety data sheets available for all chemicals? (Can be online)

  • Are all containers labeled correctly?

  • Are eye wash stations and showers easily accessed and clearly marked?

  • Are eye wash stations tested monthly?

  • Are used batteries and battery acid stored on a spill proof pallet?

  • Do used oil tanks have spill retention ?

  • Are flammable cabinet in use?

  • Are steel safety cans used for fuel storage?

Personal protective equipment

  • Is PPE available where needed? (Grinders, Battery fill stations)

  • Are face shields store in a dust proof bag?

  • Is the safety glass policy in place and followed?<br>

Air compressor

  • Are all guard in place? <br>

  • Has the compressor been serviced in the last year? ( belt checked and adjusted and oil changed.)

  • Are all ladders industrial strength?

  • Are ladders in good condition ? (Make sure that there are no modification)

  • Are ladders used according to instruction and intended purpose?

Wash bays

  • Are pressure washers in good operating condition?<br>

  • Is wash wand heat shielding in place? Are water heat levels at or below 130 degrees?

  • Is there slip resistant flooring in place?

General house keeping

  • Is house keeping acceptable?

  • Are all bathrooms clean?

  • Are retail areas clean neat and safe?

Loading Docks

  • Do docks have proper signage? (No unauthorized use. Wheel chock required. Falling hazards.)

  • Are wheel chocks available ?

  • Is the dock in good shape?

Service vehicles

  • Is the annual inspection current?

  • Is there a fire extinguisher and is it's location marked?

  • Are there spare fuses?

  • Is there warning triangles?

  • Is there a copy of the Federal motor carriers rule book?

  • Is there a first aid kit and is it well stocked?

Behavior Observation

  • PPE usage? (Safety Glasses)

  • Ladder/work platform usage?
