Aerodrome Inspection

  • Conduct an aerodrome inspection to verify condition of runways, taxiways, apron, lighting, windsock, markings, fencing, buildings and facilities. Requirements are detailed in MOS 139. Surfaces clear of debris (<25mm runway, <50mm strip/ clearway). Clear of defects. Clear of vegetation (strip/clearway permitted ref CIM). Clear of standing water.

  • Are aerodrome markings provided for Network aircraft? (Eg taxi lines, lead in lead out and stop lines)

  • Is there a wind indicator available at the aerodrome?

  • Is the wind indicator at least 6.5m high? 900mm diameter? Swing freely? Visible from apron and thresholds?

  • Is there aerodrome appropriately fenced?

  • Does the aerodrome have maintained signal area? (Uncontrolled aerodromes only)

  • Are any unserviceable areas of the aerodrome clearly marked?

Security

  • Is appropriate aerodrome security measures in place? <br>Eg locked gates, fenced etc

  • Does the aerodrome have security screening facilities?

  • If yes, are they used for Network flights? <br>RPT flights only.

  • Is checked in baggage protected from unauthorised access?

Lighting

  • Type of Runway lighting available.

  • PAL Frequency (if applicable)

  • Responsible person available?<br>Able to turn aerodrome lighting on if required.

  • Are the required daily / weekly / monthly etc checks being completed In accordance with the providers (eg Shell or Air BP) guidance?

  • Does the ARO / GHA provide return passenger and freight loads?

General Apron Safety

  • Do staff utilise the correct marshalling signals when handling aircraft?

  • Do staff ensure beacon is off prior to approaching aircraft?

  • Do all personnel have appropriate PPE available and where when necessary? <br>Including High Vis clothing, safety boots, hearing protection, gloves when required. Etc

  • Are chocks inserted immediately after beacon turned off?

  • Is FOD risk appropriately managed on and around the apron?

  • Are vehicle used airside free of FOD?

  • Are FOD checks completed prior to coming airside?

  • Are cargo nets utilised when loading aircraft?

  • Is baggage loaded no higher than the red line?

  • Do staff approaching the fwd baggage compartment with baggage trolleys hold parallel to the fuselage and exit parallel to the wing?

  • Do staff approaching the aft baggage compartment with baggage trolleys hold parallel to the wing and exit parallel to the fuselage?

  • Are baggage loa kerbs only loaded within maximum published capacity? (Iaw LIS)

Load Control

  • Is the aircraft loading instruction sheet completed with the planned load?

Aircraft Departure Procedures

  • Does a responsible person man the radio for 15-20 min after departure to receive post departure information?

Passenger Handling

  • Does the check in point have internet access?

  • Is a printer available to print boarding information?

  • Is there appropriate passenger signage at the check in point?

  • Are baggage scales available?

  • Is freight appropriately packaged (dependent) on content to with stand normal vigour of flight / leakage etc?

Passenger Apron Movement

  • Are all passengers escorted on the apron to and from the aircraft?

  • Do passengers observe mobile phone and smoking bans whilst on the apron?

  • Are stairs handled in accordance with SOPs?

  • Do ramp staff wait for indication from the FA before stairs are positioned within 1m of the aircraft?

  • Do ground staff give indication to FA when stairs are ready for passengers?

  • Do ground staff align the stairs with the aircraft decals when positioning the stairs?

  • Are the stabilised immediately deployed once stairs are in position?

Crisis Management

  • Is the Ground Handling Gent aware of obligations under the Network Crisis Management Plan?

  • Are Network emergency contacts / first person aware form readily available for all ground handling personnel?

  • Does GHA know obligations for Mayday or Pan Pan call?

Post Audit
