Surface Preparation

Surface free of the following: Dust, oil, grease, loose particles, remnants of curing compound, waxes, coatings, organics contaminants and weak concrete layers
How has the surface been prepped? Specify:

Dry abrasive blasting, wet abrasive blasting, steam cleaning, angle grinder, high pressure water blast

Amplitude of surface profile to be between 0.5-1mm (60 grit sand paper)

Minimum corner radius of 25mm
Treatment of cracks

Cracks greater than 0.2mm repaired using resin injection

Cracks less than 0.2mm coated with bridging layer of epoxy putty (Masterbrace 4000 Adhesive)

Environmental Conditions

The FRP strengthening system can only be installed when all of the following conditions are met
-
Ambient temperature between 5-30 degrees Celsius
-
Concrete surface temperature between 8-35 degrees Celsius
-
Relative humidity below 85%
-
No rain or run off, including leaks and seepage through bridge decks that may affect adhesion
-
Surface temperature of substrate is 3 degrees higher than dew point temperature
-
Moisture content of substrate below 8%

Pull of Adhesion Testing
-
Mean adhesion pull of strength of 1.5MPa with no individual result less than 1.35MPa
-
Minimum concrete compressive strength required for FRP strengthening is 17Mpa
-
Adhesion testing conducted at the following intervals: 1 per 75 lin.m of or repair or 1 sample per 10m^2
