General<br>These questions relate to the entire flat including bedrooms, dining area, lounge, bathrooms, toilets, outside of the flat.

  • Are the carpets frayed or worn out in the communal areas and all the bedrooms?

  • Is the floor in good condition?

  • Is the housekeeping in all areas kept to a high standard?

  • Are the emergency contact numbers available to the tenant?

  • Is there a carbon monoxide monitor on site?

  • Is the carbon monoxide monitor working?

  • When have the batteries for the carbon monoxide monitor been replaced?

  • Is there any clutter in front of windows or emergency exits?

  • Are the windows secure?

  • Do we need to install window restrictions?

  • Is there any mobility aid on site? If so, is it regularly maintained?

  • Is there a pest issue in the house?

  • Are cleaning supplies properly stored?

  • Is the boiler working properly?

  • Are all radiators working properly?

  • Are the washing machine detergent drawers clean?

  • Is the fluff in the dryer been cleared out?

  • Are there any leaks or indication of water damage on walls, ceiling, window seals, carpets?

  • Are shelves and curtains securely fixed?

  • Is the hot water between 45–50-degree Celsius? If not, please indicate what temperature it is - you would need to test it with water thermometer.

Kitchen

  • Are the kitchen preparation areas and work surface clean, clear and safe to use?

  • Is there a fire blanket in the kitchen?

  • Is the fire blanket hanged on the wall by the hob?

  • Does the tenant know how to use the fire blanket?

  • Is the tenant supported by staff to cook meals?

  • Is the staff trained for basic food hygiene?

  • Are there any flammable and dangerous substances in the kitchen and are they safely stored?

  • Are the ovens clean?

  • Is the extractor in the kitchen clean?

  • Is the extractor in the bathrooms clean?

  • Does the tenant use the hotplate, urn and slow cooker on Shabbat?

  • Are the hotplate, urn or slow cooker in good working order? Are they clean?

Fire Management Checks

  • Is the fire evacuation plan displayed?

  • Does the tenant need to have the evacuation plan in easy read?

  • Does the tenant understand how to evacuate the building and who to contact?

  • Are the smoke detectors working? In order to answer this question, please test the smoke detectors.

  • Are combustibles and detergents stored appropriately? i.e. not beneath stairwells or against electrical apparatus.

  • Is the electrical cupboard empty of all combustible materials?

  • Is the lighting adequate and in good condition throughout the property and outside?

  • Does the member smoke in the flat?

  • Is the front door of the flat a fire door?

Electricity

  • Is there an emergency light in the property?

  • If no emergency light, is there a torch and is it working and easily accessible?

  • Are all sockets in a good condition?

  • Are all electrical cables in good condition? (e.g. TV, laptop, charger cables)

Bedroom

  • Is the mattress in good condition? Is it clean? No Bedbugs?

  • Is the bed frame in good condition?

Outside the flat

  • Are all outside paths and steps in good condition? Balcony, Decking, stairs, etc

  • Is the garden well kept, free of clutter, grass short and neat?

Accidents and Incidents

  • Have all staff accidents and incidents forms sent to healthandsafety@kisharonlangdon.org.uk?
