Planning and Preparation

Action already taken to reduce risks
- Ensured all COVID-19 safety precautions can be observed as far as is reasonably practicable during works and ensured anyone else in the premises has been informed to maintain social distancing of a minimum of 2 meters space. In the event these precautions cannot be maintained work will STOP until safety can be restored.
- All other normal health and safety practices shall be followed. RAMS will be referred to at all times.

Planning
- Whenever possible, 'LIVE WORKS IS TO BE AVOIDED' if 'LIVE WORK' is required the assessment procedure in HS (G) 85 is to be followed and a safe system of work devised, preferably in writing. Sufficient personal protective equipment equipment (PPE) is to be available at the work place.

Physical
- Access to live conductors is to be controlled, and appropriate signs are to be in place. Written information and instructions will be required for on complex systems (control, meeting & parallel circuits). A clear access of 1 meter, gloves and matting to BS 697 and BS 921 are to be provided for ‘LIVE WORKING’. Electrical test equipment will be insulated and fused to GS38 requirements and in date for calibration. Electricity supply authority seals WILL NOT BE BROKEN and final connections will not be made with out written authority.

- All circuits to be worked on will be treated as live until verified dead. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this requirement. Experience of employees is irrelevant
Managerial / Supervisory

Specific instruction
- Live work is only to be carried out by authorised competent electricians under direct supervision of nominated supervisors. Electricians will not be permitted to work unaccompanied on live connections, above 125 volts. Unless specifically authorised to do so and good communications are in place. Adequate PPE, First-Aid and qualified First- Aiders are to be available at the work place where live work is to be done.

It has been verbally agreed that the client or residents take responsibility for themselves, children, guests and pets, and they will remain outside the working area at all times during works, that they will not attempt to energise all or part of the system under any circumstances. In addition they agree that ALL Covid-19 government rules including social distancing rules will be adhered to for the entire duration of the works.
