PPE Conditions and Availability

  • PPE areas clearly signed. ie; eye protection (safety glasses or goggles), ear protection, proper foot wear (steel toed boots) and hardhat.

  • Proper outer clothing to worn. ie; no loose clothing, jewelry and long hair is the be secured.

  • Is there extra PPE available for visitors and employees

General House Keeping:

  • Work areas clean of clutter and hazards.

  • Ladders stored in a safe manner.

  • Entrance mats are available for wet weather.

  • Outside walkways are in good repair.

  • Wires or extension cords do not cross traffic areas. Unless posted and clearly identified with flagging tap and posted by hazard.

  • Lighting Sufficient at all work areas

  • Lighting Sufficient (no burnt out lights and or clean)

  • Shelving sufficient for heavy loads ie; secured to wall and or floor. ( if required)

  • power cords in good condition.

  • Wall outlets and junction box covers are in place.

Tools and Equipment

  • Hand tools and power tools stored properly.

  • Tools and equipment inspected as required.

  • Tools and equipment proper for each task.

  • Guards on machinery are set as per manufactures and industry specks.

  • Gas powered engines stored in ventilated area.

  • Fuel stored outside in a signed area.

  • Location of manual/ instructions for each piece of equipment is know.

Office:

  • Are chairs, Desks, keyboards and monitors ergonomical safe. (proper height, positioning for task/worker)

  • Main Entrance clear of obstacles. (Clear of Snow, Ice, Mud, tripping hazards)

  • Stairway is clear for safe passage.

  • Handrails are installed correctly.

  • Stairway well lit.

  • Proper signage posted for emergency equipment.

  • Cords and other electrical hazards in good repair.

  • Adequate outlets are available- (no overloading)
