Site Safety Inspection

First Aid Facilities

  • Are sufficient first aid facilities and first aid box locations available for Avi Contracts Ltd?

  • First aid kits, sufficient number of first aid trained personnel, eye wash bottles must all be available for workers. All operatives should be aware of the first aid arrangements.

Fire Prevention & Emergency

  • Are all fire prevention and control systems in place?

  • Are exits clear of obstructions suitable with adequate lighting and fire extinguisher points established?

  • The appropriate type of fire extinguishers for the type of fire should be available in all working areas or on fire escape routes. Fire extinguishers should be in the immediate work area where hot works is taking place.

Site Security

  • Is security adequate on site both to prevent unauthorised access to construction areas and for tool and equipment storage?

  • The main site and all working areas should be secured from unauthorised access, storage of tools and materials should be provided and kept secure.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Is all necessary PPE worn correctly with appropriate Avi Contracts signage?

  • FFFP3 masks should be worn for dust and fume protection, face coverings for COVID19 protection and all other PPE required by the site rules and by the requirements of the task risk assessments must be worn at all times.

Housekeeping

  • Is site housekeeping in good order, no trailing leads, off-cuts, uneven or unstable floors or other trip hazards or fire hazards?

  • Is all waste disposed of appropriately and safely as per the waste management plan?

  • All working areas and access routes should be checked for trip hazards and obstructions, particular attention should be on fire exit routes and storage of flammable or combustible materials which may compromise general safety or escape routes.

Trip and Fall Safety

  • Are fall preventive measures in place in all areas?

  • Are are access equipments generally safe and orderly (stable, in good condition, used safely and inspected regularly)?

  • Ladders must be used for only short duration, low risk works or in areas where no other access equipment can be used. Use and inspection of access equipment must only be by properly trained and competent personnel. Equipment must be appropriate for the use and in good working order.

Hazardous Manual Tasks

  • Have Hazardous Manual Tasks on site been identified and RAMS in place for these works are suitable controls in place and operatives trained?

  • Where possible can manual handling tasks be avoided, reduced or assisted with lifting aids? Operatives should be trained in manual handling and manual handling risk assessments should be included in the site file and complied with.

Hand and Power Tools

  • Are all tool guards in place and operable?

  • Are dust collectors and exhausts provided on tools that produce large amounts of dust?

  • Are employees using the proper tool for the task they are performing?

  • Dust suppression must be in place, appropriate PPE must be worn, concider noise

Electrical Safety

  • Are portable power tools in good condition?

  • PAT Testing for the project is in order, up to date and all tools are safe for use.

  • Electrical equipment must be in good order, evidence of regular inspection and PA testing should be available.

Chemical Safety

  • Are all hazardous substances and chemicals being used identified in the COSHH assessment all being stored and used as per the procedures set out?

  • Spill kits, eye washes should be available where necessary and operative should be aware of the hazards and risks of using hazardous substances. CoSHH assessments should be in place.

Confined Spaces

  • Are all confined spaces works being carried out safely?

  • All workers undertaking confined space works must be trained in confined space entry and activities, permits should be in place including action emergency and recovery plans, spaces should be continually monitored.

Incident, Injury & Accident Procedures

  • Are Incident, Accident, Near Miss and Injury procedures in place, have procedures been followed correctly for all incidents including near misses?

  • Have there been any accidents or incidents in this reporting period?

  • All accidents must be reported and investigated, reporting procedures must be followed

Thermostat Readings

  • Have thermostat readings been recorded on this project?

  • Thermostat readings are all normal.

RAMS

  • Have all RAMS been updated inline with works that are being carried out?

  • Have all RAMS been signed and dated to updated copies by all workforce?

  • Have all questions, queries and concerns highlighted by the site team been reflected and amendments made to RAMS accordingly?

Tool Box Talks

  • All tool box talks have been completed with minimal repetition and logged weekly

  • Has a copy of the toolbox talk has been sent to the head office or a photograph taken at the time of audit to be logged on our internal system.

Staff Welfare

  • Are all legally required and appropriate welfare facilities been provided by the principal contractor? Have any questions or feedback from the workforce been answered and resolved?

  • All new workforce have completed and returned the HR Starter Pack

Workmanship

  • All operatives are carrying out works to a good standard and inline with Avi Contracts best practice

  • All doors are being installed inline with correct regulations

General Comments

  • Any further comments or recommendations arising from this inspection?
