Setup

  • Is the surrounding area secured with yellow caution tape and signs to alert plant personnel?

  • Is the immediate Blasting Area secured with Red DO NOT ENTER tape and signs?

  • Are signs posted along the route of the water blasting hose? (If the hose crosses sidewalks)

  • Have all hoses been protected from vehicular traffic?

  • Are the wheels on the blasting machine chocked?

  • Does every connection have a whip check and hose shroud?

  • Are all hoses correctly pressure rated?

  • Are all fittings correctly pressure rated?

  • Have precautions been taken to protect electrical equipment?

  • Is a trained attendant present and are they close enough to shut down the equipment?

Blasting Equipment

  • Has the nozzle/cleaning tips been inspected prior to its connection to the water hose? (including 3D heads 2D heads and Line Moiling Devices)

  • Has the relief valve been inspected before the machine is started?

  • Have all Hoses been banded to reflect the current working/inspection period?

  • Is the dump system working properly? (Foot Pedal when needed)

  • Has a Pre-Job checklist been completed?

  • Has all equipment/hoses/fittings been checked for leaks and/or damage?

Cleaning

  • Is the entry point where the hose enters the vessel secured to prevent the the jet from exiting the vessel?

  • Has the cleaning head been secured into position outside of the vessel? (tied off)

  • Has the first 6 inches of the tube sheet/line been cleaned with the pressure washer? (less then 5,000 psi)

  • On piping, has the lance been marked 24" from the nozzle? And again at the end of the lance to prevent over extension through the pipe being cleaned?

  • Are all anit-withdrawal devices in place?

  • Have the proper "football" stops been placed on the lance? (when using the XY-Axis)

  • When line moling, is a stinger at least 1.5 times the inner diameter attached to prevent accidental reversal?

  • Are all employees working at a safe distance?

  • Is the required PPE being worn, if necessary?
