Bed saw pre operational check sheet.

  • is the area around the saw clean and tidy

  • Is the bed saw set up relatively level and secured in place to prevent it from vibrating / moving around during use?

  • Is the power cord for the bed saw (including plug) free of breaks and/or other damage?

  • Is the emergency stop button effective

  • Does the saw unit return device pull the saw blade back to the rear of the table fence

  • The slides,runways,pivots and bearings are clear from dust and are free running

  • Is the saw blade in use free of chips, loose or missing teeth, warps, burn-marks, or other damage or deterioration?

  • When pulled forward the saw blade does not extend beyond the front edge of the work table

  • The LEV extractor operates effectively and no dust present around the blade or under the table

  • Is the guide post adjusted as close as practicable to the material to be cut so as to minimize the exposure of the saw blade?

Visual Checks

  • There is no access to the saw blade when the machine is in the rest position

  • No hands markings on the table in the blade area yellow hatching

  • Are the guards and safety devices fitted ,secure and correctly adjusted

  • Is the cross cut saw blade the correct size and type for the material being cut

  • Is the area above the saw well illuminated

  • Is the correct PPE available at all times and must be worn whilst operating this machine
