  • Is the saw blade (maximum thickness) suitable for the equipment (pulley wheel diameter)

  • Is the saw blade in use rated at the same (or greater) RPM’s as the band saw? (see labels)

  • Is the saw blade type and width suitable for the material being cut

  • Are the blade teeth sharp and properly set

  • Is the guide set correctly and does not grip the blade but supports whilst cutting

  • Is the saw blade enclosed by a substantial guard during operation of the machine

  • Is the working area well illuminated

  • Correct PPE available and available at all times (MUST BE WORN WHEN OPERATING MACHINARY)
