  • Take picture of any identified hazard as you undertake inspection and complete hazard report form. Advise manager immediately if high risk is identified and seek clarification of what needs to be done. Complete hazard report form and where applicable continue inspection.

  • Are all floors and aisles in structure kept clear of all obstruction.

  • Is equipment, materials and tools stored in an orderly way?

  • Stairs clean, dry and free of refuse

  • If there is damaged equipment/machinery in the area has it been properly isolated under lock out tag out requirements?

  • Is lighting adequate in all required areas?

  • Is safety guarding in place and attached correctly to all equipment / machinery?

  • Are machines / equipment being operated correctly? Observe staff using the equipment if applicable.

  • Have correct tools/equipment been selected for the job?

  • Are correct manual handling techniques being followed? Observe staff undertaking manual handling tasks if possible.

  • Is the Safety Data Sheets up to date? Refer register held and chemicals being used.

  • Is suitable safety signage applied in all areas?

  • Are the lunch room and other amenities clean and tidy?

  • Are monthly safety inspections being undertaken? Refer to WHS Inspection Calendar register in S drive for department.

  • Is there pressure equipment in the area and is it good order?

  • Is there any electrical hazards evident?

  • Based on the inspection do you consider the work area safe?

  • If the answer to the above question is no then refer to your manager immediately to discuss further.

  • Please rate the area inspected from a rating on one to ten. With one being poor and ten being in excellent condition.

  • If rating of less than 10 please advise what needs to be improved in area.
