TROLLEY COLLECTION - Gap Check Questions

  • Trolley bay supply (am) must be at least 1/2 full

  • Trolley bay supply end of shift (pm) must be full

  • Trolleys contained in trolley bays and not scattered throughout the carpark, street, inside centre

  • 100L trolleys being pushed into bays

  • Effective street runs in place (minimum 1 per day). No trolleys noticed on streets following street run

  • Appearance and behaviour of contractor personnel. Safety vest, shirt, cap, pants, shoes worn by contractor personnel

  • Rubbish removed from trolleys at all times / bays clean and tidy

  • Trolley contractor communicates effectively and daily with store personnel. Communication book completed.

  • Stopping only in approved areas for loading / unloading. No more than 5 trolleys loaded onto trailer at a time

  • Headlights on when in car park

  • Trolleys secured in appropriate area with chain and padlock

  • Damaged trolleys removed from fleet, isolated, and danger tagged

  • No more than 12 trolleys pushed at a time or to centre management specification / 7 max on travelator

  • Trolleys roped together, elasticised ropes not permitted

  • Trolley tractor/vehicle driven safely at all times. No more than 10km/h, no smoking or usage of mobile phones, MP3 players, etc while driving

  • 'Muvit' machine condition, used correctly

  • Log Books being completed

  • Trolley tractor/vehicle clean and in good repair i.e. hazard/flashing light, headlights, tyre tread, reverse lights, indicators working etc

  • Drivers license, vehicle and trailer registrations valid

  • Trolley contractor retrieves trolleys within 24hours as reported by 'trolley tracker', council, or the store manager

  • Sign in / out book being used correctly

  • SWMS / Wet-weather controls available and in place

STORE CLEANING - Gap Check Questions

  • Site Specific floor type being serviced as per specification e.g. vinyl, carpeted, concrete, designer pave, granito, karndean, scala, ashford

  • Counters / Checkout areas / Trolley bays

  • Sweeping and dust removal

  • Under fixtures free of stock, rubbish, spills

  • Waste bins emptied and cleaned

  • Stickers and scuffs removed

  • CLEANING STOREROOM - clean, tidy, equipment condition, test tagging, Site Folder/SWMS/SDS information up to date

  • EXTERNAL CARPARK - tidy, rubbish free (if app)

  • General performance of workers since last gap check conducted

  • Complaints from store re 'no / few trolleys', 'cleaning issues'. Supervisor regularly communicating with Store Manager
