Furniture, Fixtures and Fittings

Electrical Safety

  • No double adapters in use?

  • Electrical equipment is in good condition and portable equipment is tested and tagged as required.

  • No broken plugs, sockets or switches?

  • No power leads across walkways?

  • No frayed or damaged leads?

  • No strained leads?

  • All new power boards purchased will have an overload switch.

  • All areas have Residual Current Device (RCD) protection. (A Residual Current Device is a sensitive safety device that switches off the electricity within 10 to 50 milliseconds if there is an electrical fault. An RCD is is designed to protect against the risks of electrocution and fire caused by earth faults)

First Aid Facilities

  • Are cabinets and contents clean and orderly?

  • Are contents regularly checked?

  • No contents past their expiry date?

  • Cabinets clearly labelled?

  • Is there easy access to cabinets?

  • Delegates aware of location of first aid cabinet?

  • Are first aid officers accessible?

  • Are emergency numbers displayed?

Office Hazards

  • Condition of filing cabinets?

  • Condition of chairs? (Five star bases.)

  • Screen Based Equipment positioned to reduce glare from windows etc?

Storage

  • Flammable material is stored and handled in a safe manner.

  • Required resources and equipment are stored safely.

  • Free standing shelves/cupboards are secured to ensure stability.

  • Storage methods are used that will eliminate or minimize accidents. (heavy objects stored between mid-thigh and shoulder height)

Hazardous Substances

  • Current (within 5 years) material safety data sheets are readily available for hazardous substances.

  • Hazardous substances are stored and labeled appropriately.

Vehicle Condition

  • Schedule maintenance performed?
