Access & Egress to the Barge Loadout Facility

First Aid

  • Are First aid kits reasonably accessible to BLF workers, clearly signed and easily visible?

  • Are the contents of first aid kits maintained consistent with the First Aid Kit Contents List?<br>- Inspect the kit and check the contents against the list .

  • AED’s self-test function is showing correct operation (Normally indicated by a flashing green light or tick)

ROM and Stackers

  • ROM clean and tidy (minimal spillage)?

  • Plant / under conveyors clean / hosed out?

  • Are ROM park-up area's, carpark and pedestrian walkway signs & markings clear, easily seen and understood?

  • Is signage posted and clearly visible?

  • Are all emergency stops clearly identified and working?

  • OBA clear, gates locked and free from material buildup?

  • Sample station area clean and tidy?

  • Guarding in place and secure?

  • Are all pathways in and around stackers free of tripping hazards?

Manual Handling

  • Are frequently used items stored within easy access? (hoses, shovels and scraping tools)

  • Are stored or stacked items positioned in a way that will prevent them from falling?

  • Are mechanical aids - Available? Applicable to the task? In good condition? (Small conveyor Wheelbarrow)

  • Are ladders, steps and access ways in good condition?

Hazardous Chemicals

  • If new workplace chemicals were introduced since the last inspection: Has the chemical been added to the hazardous chemical register?

  • Has the chemical been formally risk assessed?

  • Is the chemical stored in accordance with its SDS?

  • Are hazardous substance storage cabinets correctly labelled?

  • Are de-cantered hazardous chemicals correctly labelled?

  • Are Safety Data Sheets (SDS) easily available and within date? (5 years from date of print)

  • Is a Hazardous Chemical Register easily available to all workers?

  • Are incompatible dangerous goods not co-located within the same storage cabinet?

  • Are there spill containment kits / facilities in place which are located in close proximity to where spills are likely to occur?

Vehicles (ROM Loaders/Bobcat/excavator (if in park up area)

  • Are vehicles being inspected every shift change using form the correct Vehicle Pre-start Inspection Report?

  • Pre-Start inspection report filled in correctly?

  • Fire extinguisher(s) fitted? Insert inspection date in comments?

Environmental

  • Local dust control methods in place

  • Oil or fuel spills reported and cleaned up

  • Waste streams identified and bins available
