  • NOTES:
    • Damaged or badly worn webbing is not permitted.
    • Cleaning the harness can be done using medium to light duty detergent and water at 40 degrees Celsius then rinse thoroughly, allow to dry naturally away from strong heat or light.
    • If in doubt throw it out. Send all rejected harnesses/landyards in kit form back to TBA LHR with the reason for rejection.

FULL BODY HARNESS INSPECTION

  • 1. Place equipment on a clean work surface.

  • 2. Check all metal links, adjusters and connectors for: excessive wear, damage, distortion, metal fatigue and corrosion.

  • 3. Check full body harness "D" ring attachments for: excessive wear, damage, distortion, metal fatigue and corrosion.

  • 4. Check any plastic guides and back plates for: excessive wear, damage, fatigue, degradation or cracking.

  • 5. Make sure to look in areas that are not normally seen and are covered up by other components of the harness assembly ensuring when doing so no damage occurs.

  • 6. Check webbing for: Excessive wear, damage, cuts or chemical attack.

CONNECTOR INSPECTION

  • 7. Check for the locking devices smooth operation and soundness of closure, signs of excessive wear, indentations, cracking, corrosion and deformation, especially on internal and external radii.

LANYARD INSPECTIONS

  • 8. Check for signs of damage or wear, pay attention to areas under fittings and links.

  • 9. Look for signs of degredations caused by chemical attack, strong sunlight, heat or damp.

  • 10. Webbing lanyards, check stitch patterns for broken stitches, broken or worn stitching is not allowed. Where possible pull webbing components away from each other to check stitching intgrity. All stitching must be visible, if it covered in paint, dirt or i.

  • 11. Rope lanyards: check for cuts, damage, poor or damaged splicing / stitching, discolouration / staining, strong sunlight degredation, heat, damp and chemical contamination. All stitching must be visible, if not covered in paint dirt or is missing at all re.
