Site Management

  • Risk assessment carried out?

Site Condition

  • Are flammable and combustible liquids and other hazardous substances stored properly?

  • If available, are fire extinguishers secured and within current inspection?

  • Are adequate controls in place to ensure the safety of members of the public?

  • Is there signage posted at prominent locations to warn members of the public?

  • Are designated safe walkways or No Pedestrian zones established?

  • Are operatives working safely?

PPE

  • Are employees wearing Hi-Viz clothing?

  • Are employees wearing appropriate safety footwear?

Plant and Equipment

Ladders

  • Are all ladders/stepladders on site rated BS EN 131 Professional?

  • Are all ladders/stepladders on site in good condition?

  • Are ladders set up at the proper angle of 4:1?

  • Are ladders adequately secured?

  • Is there a rescue system and available for use?

  • Are the locking mechanisms in extension ladders in good working order and applied?

Roof Access

  • Suitable access and egress?

  • Precautions for working on fragile surfaces?

  • Edge protection/safe distance maintained (People and materials)?

Pole Access

  • Visible damage? (hedge cutter damage, rusted stays, lose steps, etc)

  • At least 1 metre from spiked railings, glass topped wall or similar?

  • Pre-climb test carried out?

  • Pre-climb label attached to pole?

  • Suitable ladder used and secured?
