1.0 - Site Safety & Conditions

  • 1.1 - Is the appropriate Chandos Safety Signage in place?

  • 1.2 - Is the First Aid Station accessable?

  • 1.3 - Have field employee been informed and encouraged to report all injuries no matter how big or small?

  • 1.4 - Have field employees been instructed on how to use the first aid station?

  • 1.5 - Have field employees been instructed on how to report an injury after or during the use of the First Aid Station?

2.0 - Tools

  • 2.1 - Are all appropriate tools provided and available for required tasks?

  • 2.3 - How long does it take to get a replacement for an out of service tool?

  • 2.4 - Is there a process in place for returning tools?

  • 2.5 - What condition are the tools returned to the yard (cleaned, wrapped, etc)?

  • 2.6 - Are there enough tools provided for the whole crew (do you have to wait for availability)?

  • 2.7 - Are workers initially supervised and deemed compitent on the use of power tools?

  • 2.8 - If a new unfamiliar tool / procedure arrives on site is training provided?

  • 2.9 - Are field employees trained and advised on how to clean and properly store tools to increase safety and longevity of the tool?

  • 2.10 - Is someone assigned to monitor the cleanliness, condition and storage of tools on site?

3.0 - Site Communication

  • 3.1 - Do you receive clear sufficient direction (When, where, what, why and how) for your assigned task/ duties?

  • 3.2 - If there are changes to these duties are they communicated to you in a timely manner?

  • 3.3 - How are changes communicated to you (Site Super / Foreman/ Co-worker)?

  • 3.4 - Do you feel you are able to regularily complete a task before being moved or re-assigned to another task?

  • 3.5 - Do you have access and opportunity to review Plans/ Blue Prints?

  • 3.6 - Do you participate in weekly tool box meeting?

  • 3.7 - Do you feel you can bring forward concerns and ideas?

  • 3.8 - Do you feel part of a team and that your efforts are acknowledged as part of the team?

4.0 - Apprentices

  • 4.1 - Are you currently enrolled in the Carpentry Apprenticeship program?

  • 4.2 - Are you given the opportunity to receive sufficient mentorship from Journeyman Carpenters on site?

  • 4.3 - Are you given the opportunity to pratice and utilize the skills you have learned according to your apprenticeship level?

  • 4.4 - Do you feel you get sufficient support from Chandos regarding your apprenticeship?

  • 4.5 - Are you a Journeyman Carpenter?

  • 4.6 - Are you interested and willing to mentor an apprentice?

  • 4.7 - If so, are you given sufficient time and opportunity to mentor an apprentice?
