Description of Location

A. Safety/Housekeeping

  • Hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest, work boots, gloves.

  • Tie off on lifts

  • Spent containers are placed in trash dumpster

  • Work area is cleaned up, free of trash and construction debris.

C. Before Work Starts

  • Verify expiration date on materials

  • Surface temperature of substrate is 40 deg. or above

D. Installation

  • All substrates have been tested for adhesion prior to field installation

  • Surface prep - Free of dirt, frost, moisture, grease, oil, wax, lacquer, paint, other foreign matter preventive of adhesion

  • Backer rod - Installed at the proper depth, dry, and free of tears, continuous, installed snugly in joint

  • Sealant directly contacts substrate and completely fills joints cavity

  • Sealant is free of air pockets, foreign embedded matter, ridges, and sags

  • Sealant smears or drops have been removed and cleaned

  • Material being applied in proper width and depth -2:1 ratio per Dow Technical Manual

  • Concave joint profile per Figure 8A in ASTM C 1193

  • Tooling is continuous and smooth, sealant entering into pores of substrate

  • Surface protective tape is applied only as necessary, and removed within 10 minutes

  • Joint edges are straight and neatly edged

  • Weeps are being provided as noted in RFI-00835, bottom of 2 stage cavities/horizontal interruptions

  • RMP has routed grout to provide proper depth for joint - minimum 1-1/2"

  • Min. Joint 1/2" max joint 4" per Dow Technical Manual

  • Are contractor's daily logs being filled out? Verify start and end temps

E. Storage/Protection

  • Materials delivered and stored in un-opened manufacturers labeled container

  • Workers are securely re-sealing product and storing at temperatures above 64-degrees and at or below 80 degrees Fahrenheit

  • Material protected from inclusion of foreign matter

  • Solvent soaked rags are stored in sealed metal container with mechanical lid, properly marked.

F. Required Testing

  • Field Adhesion Testing - Hand Pull Tab ASTM C 1193 or Tail Procedure ASTM C 1521<br><br>Perform 5 test for the first 100 feet<br><br>Perform 1 test for each 100 feet of joint length thereafter or 1 test per each floor per elevation

  • After pull test, verify sealant dimension and configurations comply with those specified

  • Verify field-adhesion test log is being populated with all test
